Day 1

We’ve had a super first day and the weather here has been beautiful!

After lugging our suitcases down the drive to the centre, the children were given information about their groups and dorms. They were shown to their rooms by their dorm leaders and settled in. After much excitement (as you can imagine), they chose their beds and, with a bit of teamwork, all now have a made bed to sleep in tonight!

After a lovely lunch, we split up into our groups. Some of us went to Brimham Rocks, some of us went to make shelters, one group experienced orienteering and the final group went canoeing. We had a fantastic time!

When we arrived back at Bewerley, it was time for our dinner. At tea time the children were shown how to clear their tables and enjoyed being able to sit with their friends from their group. Dinner was very welcome and delicious.

The weather this evening continued to be glorious, which enabled our nighttime activities to run smoothly.  We had a long walk and played football and games on the field.

We’re due to have our supper shortly, which will be cake and hot chocolate and at 9.30pm we’ll settle down for the night.  I am sure looking at these tired faces that we will get a good night’s sleep!

All the children have been fantastic today; we’ve been so proud of their attitude and team-work. It’s been lovely to see so many smiles and hear lots of laughter during the activities and back at the centre too.

We are all looking forward to tomorrow’s adventure!

Signing out,
