At Western, we aim to develop kind, ambitious, curious, confident and successful young people who are excited about their futures.
Within a safe and secure nursery environment in Harrogate, our EARLY YEARS aims to nurture happy children, giving them the confidence to explore and experiment.
Our children initiate their own learning through play in our stimulating indoor and outdoor facilities, becoming creative thinkers with opportunities to discover and make sense of our fascinating world.
We offer places for children aged 2-5 in our nursery rooms led by experienced early years staff.
We offer a varied and sensory curriculum. By offering a key worker system, parents have a dedicated point of contact and are reassured that their children are well cared for and encouraged to learn through their play.
By using the online learning journal Tapestry throughout nursery, parents and carers, have updates to their child’s learning and interests.
From 3 years, nursery children are entitled to 15 or 30 hours of free nursery education per week. You may have your entitlement in a combination of ways, most of which are detailed in the information below. In addition, we are able to provide the option of extra sessions and provision for which there will be a charge.
We have found that children benefit most when they receive consistent sessions preferably on consecutive days. Children who have taken just one or two sessions or who have had sessions at opposite ends of the week, in our experience may find it harder to settle and make friends.
If you are interested in applying for a place for your child, please complete the Nursery Registration and Options Forms available in the Registration Documents section, and return them to the school office. Please contact the school office should you need any further information. Telephone: 01423 502737 or e-mail email@example.com
Western Primary School provides before and after nursery/school care option for all children who attend Western’s Nursery and Reception. This provision before and after the school day is based in the reception classrooms.
Provision runs from 7.30 am to 6.30pm.
Please see the options booklet for pricing in the Registration Documents section.
Commitment from Parents
In order to be able to organise our provision and staffing arrangements, we need a definite commitment from parents as to their requirements. This can only be done using our booking form which is a legal requirement. Payments MUST be made at the beginning of each half term. By agreeing to care for your child we are undertaking a financial commitment and if your child does not attend the session we may still charge (e.g. holidays taken in term time or absence due to short term illness).
In exceptional circumstances, such as bereavement or long term illness extending beyond a week, Western may exercise its discretion as to whether a charge will be made. Once a booking is made for a term, this commitment must be honoured and any cancellation will be subject to payment of fees for that half term. If parents continue to use the service after the period covered by their signed application form, they will be taken to have accepted that the same conditions still apply for each subsequent term unless a change is agreed in writing.
